Wetland Functional Values Assessment

Wetland functional values assessment is generally completed to evaluate and document the quality of a wetland based on the functional benefits it provides.  Wetland functional benefits include flood protection, water quality improvement, wildlife and fisheries habitat, groundwater recharge or discharge, education, and recreation.  A wetland functional values assessment is often required for projects that seek local, state, and/or federal permits for impacts to wetlands.  Wetland functional values assessments can also be used to measure the success of wetland restoration projects.
