Practicable Alternatives Analysis
Most environmental regulations require documenting the process taken to find the least environmentally damaging practicable alternative. The Practicable Alternatives Analysis (PAA) is essential to most environmental permit approvals. If the project has feasible alternative locations or designs offering less impact on regulated resources (e.g. endangered species & wetlands) than what is proposed, permit approval is unlikely and the project could be in jeopardy.
