Alliant Energy and RMT retained NRC to evaluate potential natural resource impacts from construction of a 43 wind turbine facility in Fond du Lac County along the Niagara escarpment. The project included evaluating 50 miles of underground transmission corridors, turbine locations, and access roads within the 40 square mile project area. GIS was effectively used to locate natural resource constraints with the wind farm infrastructure and GPS was used to delineate wetland and waterways during the permitting and construction phases. Habitat assessments were conducted for six state-listed plant species and one reptile. Construction inspection was completed throughout the 12-month project duration to maintain compliance with regulatory wetland and waterway permit conditions and erosion control requirements.
