Ameren - Rockwood-Big River 138kV Transmission Project
Project Highlights
- Created a Comprehensive GIS Geodatabase to Develop and Evaluate Macro-Corridors, Route Alternatives, and Preferred Routes
- Completed Critical Issues Analysis for Route Alternatives
- Provided Support for Public and Stakeholder Information Workshop
Summary
NRC was retained in collaboration with Realtime Utility Engineers to site 15 miles of 138kV transmission line in the St. Louis, Missouri area. The project scope of work included development of an extensive GIS database comprised of a wealth of baseline data from a wide variety of federal, state, and local agencies and municipalities, including parcel ownership information, land use, proposed development plans, protected lands, public lands, endangered resource locations, etc.
The baseline GIS data was utilized in conjunction with regulatory agency and stakeholder input for the siting process and critical issues analysis. Once we identified several route alternatives and segments we developed a GIS based matrix that summarized critical route attributes (e.g. number of residential structures within 200 feet of route) for the route selection process.
