Project Highlights
- Pre-Construction Wetland and Waterway Identification/Characterization along a 343-mile Petroleum Pipeline Project
- State and Federal Endangered Species Acts and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act Compliance by Completing On-Site Avian and Reptile Surveys
- NRC Ecologists Were On-Call for Natural Resource-Related Issues that May Have Arisen During Construction
- Recently Conducted First Year of Post-Construction Wetland and Waterway Restoration Monitoring, Evaluating over 1,000 Features
Summary
NRC provided environmental services to Natural Resources Group, Inc. (NRG) for a 343-mile petroleum pipeline corridor across Wisconsin as part of Enbridge Energy’s Southern Access Expansion Program. Pre-construction activities included on-site wetland delineations, functional value assessments, invasive species surveys, stream characterizations, and T/E habitat assessments. Environmental features were identified with GPS instrumentation in the field, which assisted in mapping, re-locating, and quantifying natural resource features. At the time of construction, NRC worked with survey teams to stake the wetland boundaries. Post-construction, NRC evaluated the restoration status of all wetlands and waterways as specified by permit conditions. The restoration monitoring is on-going and spans a period of ten years.
